Sailing ship 19M Turkish ketch MARMARIS from 1988, fully refitted in 2023. PANAMA flag, L.O.A: 23.30m, Price excluding tax.
Pen Doar, originally named Buyuk Amiral, was designed in 1988 by its sponsor to sail towards the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
It's a comfortable boat that handles high seas and 50 knots of wind very well. We've had the opportunity to verify this on 5 occasions. From 2018 to 2023, we undertook a complete refit of the boat to be self-sufficient and capable of transoceanic navigation.
Here's an overview of some of the modifications.
The hull planks were replaced with 6cm thick fire-resistant, rot-resistant, extremely hard Guinea-Bissau Tali wood, whose essential oil is highly corrosive. The keel, which had been extended from 2.20m to 2.70m, was reinforced with a laminated counter-bulkhead and 13 26mm stainless steel bars, weighing 9.5 tons. A 6cm thick and 25cm wide Tali wood sheer strake was cut to crown the entire hull. The cheeks of the roof and the wheelhouse were rebuilt with a 10mm South American Guatambu veneer. The deck, roof, side decks, and cockpit were covered with comfortable and insulating seacork cork. The 18 sliding aluminum portholes with 6mm glass are new, as are the 2 hatches. The wheelhouse was rebuilt, the 14 fixed windows, the 2 front opening windows, and the 3 doors are double-glazed with anti-burglary stadip glass. All stainless steel parts, bitts, cross of Lorraine, bollards, ties, tilting scuppers, davits with tilting basins, guardrails, chains, handrails, were custom-made. The two steel masts that rested on the hull and a chine greenhouse were removed, sectioned to isolate them from the cabin, then renovated and refixed on supports for the main mast and on a load-bearing structure for the mizzen. This structure allows for the positioning of the double central door of the wheelhouse, the passage of engine and battery ventilation, and wiring. The engine has been completely rebuilt. The generator is new. All tanks are new, fresh water and diesel in steel, gray water and black water, and hydraulic in stainless steel. The 8 solar panels of 345Wc at 24V, the controllers, the cabinets, and the Victron isolation transformer, the batteries, the 12V and 24V chargers, the electric winches, 24V pumps, all the electronics, radar, Wifi and TNT antennas, including the GMDSS, are all new. The desalinator, the 2 refrigerators and the freezer, the 4-function oven, the gas hob, the dishwasher, the washing machine, and the air compressor are new. The 3 electric toilets are new. The kitchen layouts were designed with navigation in mind.... » whole text » less text
