Originally all boats were built of wood, the switch to fiberglass hulls forced the company to affiliate with the NYSE-listed Whittaker Marine Group, which eventually included Bertram Yacht, Trojan Yachts, Riva, Desco Marine, Kettenburg, Balboa Marine and Coronado Yachts. The Whittaker Marine Group's total sales reached between $350 million in the early 70s.
